Creamy, Sweet Peas

by Lisa Katz
for About.com

This simple recipe comes from my mother-in-law. I treasure any recipe that gets my kids to "eat green." I often make this on Shabbat and also on Rosh HaShana. Although it is made from cream, a pareve cream can be used so the side is isn't dairy and can be served with meat.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound frozen peas
  • 1/2 cup onions, chopped
  • 3 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1/2 cup pareve whipping or heavy cream
  • salt, pepper, sugar to taste

Preparation:

1. Cook peas in water according to package directions.
2. Fry onions, lightly, in margarine.
3. Add cream and peas.
4. Add spices according to taste.
5. Cook until hot.
