Question: Why don't orthodox Jews get married on Saturday and Sunday evenings?

Dear Rabbi Enkin,
Is it true that many observant Jewish couples choose to get married during the week as opposed to on a Saturday or Sunday evening?
Thanks, Randy

Answer: Dear Randy,

There is no restriction as to which day or time of the week one should get married - with the exception of the Sabbath when weddings are forbidden.

Although weddings are technically permitted on a Saturday night - the observance of the Sabbath earlier in the day would have precluded any preparations for the wedding, which would make for a pretty boring wedding.

Sunday evenings ---- marry away.

Some people like to get married on Tuesday because it is written "it is good" (ki tov) twice in the Torah (Genesis, Chapter 1) on the third day of creation.
