Question: What form do angels have according to Judaism?

Dear Rabbi,
I have been asked the following question: "Does an angel have wings and knees"? I have been resarching and found conflicting answers. Could you please enlighten me.
Dianna

Answer: Dear Dianna,

As your question is a most exhaustive one! Please forgive me for having to be brief.

Judaism does believe in the existence of angels. Angels are independent beings created by God intended to fulfill specific roles. They have no form or shape.

Unlike commonly thought - people do not become angels after death. There is no relation to the soul of a person and the angels in Heaven.

Maimonidies discusses angels at some length in his "Guide For The Perplexed" in II:4 and II:6.

Wishing you well,
