Auschwitz Crematorium
1.5 million people were slaughtered in Auschwitz. What to do with the 1.5 million dead bodies? The Nazis burned the bodies in ovens. Jewish prisoners were forced to work in the crematoria. To cover up the workings of the crematoria, the Nazis would kill the Jews who worked in the crematoria workers every few months. One of Eliezer's brothers, Yehuda, was forced to work in the crematoria and then murdered. According to Eliezer, the smell of burning bodies from the crematoria was constantly in the air.- Entering the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp
