Giora Shimoni
After the trains entered the concentration camp, the prisoners were greeted by dogs and S.S. guards who pointed rifles at them and told them to get out of the train. The prisoners, then, were subjected to a Selektion - Selection. Joseph Mengele sent Eliezer Hauser (age 15), his two sisters, and his mother to one side, and his three brothers to the other side. Eliezer's mother, Bracha, who must have understood or sensed what the separation meant, told Eliezer to run to his brothers, and so he did. His mother and sisters were exterminated the same day.
