Question: Must the unveiling ceremony take place within a year after burial?

Dear Rabbi,
What is the latest possible date to have an unveiling? Is there a time limit of one year after death? Or is okay to have the unveiling a few weeks after a year has passed, given an important personal reason?
Thank you, Gloria

Answer: Dear Gloria,

Every effort should be made to hold the unveiling service within/up to a year following death. If for whatever reason this cannot be adhered to, then it may still be held after this time as the unveiling ceremony is essentially a custom and not a law.
