Can a Jewish Child be Baptized in a Catholic Church?:
"I am Jewish. My husband is Catholic. My husband would like to baptize our daughter. I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, what's a little water over her? Someone's faith surely can't be determined by someone sprinkling water on you as an infant. And it would make my husband happy. On the other hand, doing it makes me feel like a traitor to my religion. What makes it worse is my husband's openness to Judaism. He wants us to go to synagogue, celebrate the holidays, and give her a Bat-Mitzvah. He also wants her to be baptized. What say you?"What does Reform Judaism have to say?
Does Christian Baptism Nullify Jewish Identity?:
"My Catholic wife, after agreeing to raise our children as Jews, had our daughter baptized in the Catholic Church without my knowledge or consent. Will the baptism nullify the Jewish naming we had for our daughter? Can we still raise our daughter as a Jew?"What does Reform Judaism have to say?
Is a Baptized Jewish Baby Still Considered Jewish?:
"If a Jewish baby is baptized, will she still be considered Jewish by the Jewish community? If not, will she later need to convert back to Judaism if she desires?"What does Conservative Judaism have to say?
Can We Give Our Baby Both a Baptism and Bris Ceremony?:
"My husband is Jewish, but he has no interest in observing Jewish religious practice in any way. Me and my children by a previous marriage are Catholic. Me and my present husband are now expecting our first child. We intend to have the baby baptized as a Catholic, but we want to honor the child's Jewish cultural heritage in some appropriate way. Would it be appropriate to have a bris or Jewish baby naming ceremony for the child?"What does Reform Judaism have to say?
