Jewish Educational Software for Children
This program exemplifies how the computer can be used to educate and bring Jews of all ages closer to their heritage. The graphics, music, layout of material, and interactive games all combine to catch children's attention and teach them about the weekly Torah portion. After the orginal song called Parsha on Parade, click on any of the Torah portions. Once on the interactive page for a particular Torah portion, enjoy "Peek at the Parsha" (short summation) and "This Weekıs Episode" (a longer summary). In addition, the whole biblical text in English can be printed out and search can be used to find a specific chapter and verse. After reading and hearing the portion, quizzes, games and coloring pages reinforce what was learned. A Teachers Resource Archive is also provided. While the concepts
used in explaining the Torah portions are geared toward American kids
(references made to baseball, for example), specific words are used that
are easier for Israeli or Haredi children (HaShem for God, Chava for
Eve, Chevel for Abel, Avrohom for Abraham). |
