Question

What is the difference between prohibtions of Shabbat and Chag? What is allowed on Chag that is not allowed on Shabbat, and vice versa? Thank you!

Answer

The difference between Shabbat and Chag (holiday), is that during the Chag, we are allowed to prepare food (preparations that could not have been done before Shabbat), we may carry in a public domain, and can light a fire (from an existing flame) -- all which are not allowed on Shabbat- (source: "Code of Jewish Law" O.C. 495:1).
