Question

What is the origin of Jewish laws on keeping kosher? Do they come from the Torah? Or were these laws made up by others? I've been curious to who made up the kosher laws and why.

Answer

All the kosher laws are written in the Torah. See particularly Leviticus chapter 11.

Some details were added by the rabbis, to ensure proper observance of the Torah laws.
