Question

"On the Seventh Day, G-d rested from all his works that He had created to function"

This verse from Breshith seems to conflict with kabbalist teaching that things are being created continuously over and over again. Can the two ideas be reconciled?

Answer

God rested on the seventh day from the creations, having instilled in them the ability to procreate and replenish themselves. (source: "Ibn Ezra" Genesis 2:3).

God continuously gives the ability for the creations to continue to exist. This is not a contradiction to the initial creation that God created ex-nihilio during the days of creation; and then rested from that stage of creation on the seventh day.
