Question

A friend of mine has moved into a new home and wishes to call in a Feng Shui specialist to make sure the lay out of the house is appropriate. Is this halachically acceptable?

Answer

I've attempted to research this. Thus far I can only conclude that Feng Shui is a pagan philosophy, and thus would be inappropriate for the planning of a Jewish home.

If you want to explain Feng Shui further to me, I'd be delighted to rethink my position.

In planning a Jewish home, there is a mezuzah for the proper doorposts, a Jewish library, Jewish ritual items, etc. that do speak to the issue of building a Jewish home.

Best Wishes,
