Sara Atzmon's Art Gallery
Hair 1944, 1996

art_tn_hair.jpg (18025 bytes)The girls' section of Bergen-Belsen was not far from us. The girls who lived there would pass through our camp on their way to work. They would return to eat having to carry their food in 50 liter containers. They wore rags and wooden clogs. The Germans cut their hair very short so they would not look feminine. They looked like old women, but they were only 18 years old.
