Rebecca

Rebecca (Rivka) was one of the Matriarchs (Imahot) of Judaism. Rebecca was the wife of Isaac (Yitzchak) and the mother of Jacob (Yaacov) and Esau (Esav).

Rebecca was chosen by Abraham's servant, Eliezer, to become Isaac's wife. Eliezer said "the girl who will be willing to give me water and water all my camels, she is the one who will have demonstrated her worthiness for marriage with the son of my holy master." (Genesis 24:14). Rebecca passed this test of character.

She also demonstrated strength of character when she chose to leave her home to become Isaac's wife.

Rebecca saw that Jacob, despite being second born, was the son most worthy of being the heir of Abraham and Isaac and the Patriarch to the Jewish people. She used cunning to help Jacob get Isaac's blessing. And then she sent Jacob to her brother Laban for safety and/or so he would find a God-fearing wife.

Rebecca was buried in the cave of Machpelah (Hebron).
