Miriam

Miriam, a prophetess, was the older sister of Moses (Moshe) and Aaron (Aharon).

When her mother put the infant Moses in a basket on the river, Miriam followed the basket as floated into the arms of the Pharaoh's daughter. She then arranged for her mother to serve as the baby's nurse.

She helped Moses and Aaron lead the Israelites out of Egyptian bondage. After the crossing of the Red Sea, Miriam sang a song of praise.
