Deborah

Deborah (Devora) was a judge and prophetess. She helped Barak to conquer the Canaanites in the Jezreel Valley (Emek Yizrael). The significance of this victory was that it led to the unification of the Israelite tribes. The victory of Deborah and Barak over the Canaanites was recorded in the Song of Deborah, an ancient poem, as well as in Judges 4, in the form of a prose narrative. It is not clear whether Deborah was the author of the Song of Deborah.
