Thus, according
to this recent report, "The Trail that Menem Fears" leads to a Syrian
connection to the bombings. "Its principal "proof," however,
is the resistance to following the various leads, which may have proven this
Syrian connection."
Last March, the newly elected President Fernando de la Rua and his entire Cabinet
attended a public ceremony inaugurating a public square where the embassy once
stood. The Argentinean Jewish Community warmly welcomed this change in leadership,
and expressed their hope that the new administration would be able to bring
those guilty of the bombings to justice.
This March, de la Rua was too busy dealing with the countrys financial crisis to attend the memorial ceremony. Only the deputy justice minister attended the commemoration. It appears that, even with the change in leadership, the investigation into the bombings may not succeed.
So far, the terrorists have won. People have died, people have been scarred for life, and fear has been instilled.
What do you think should/can/will be done, in this tenth year since the bomb attack, to achieve justice?
