During the last 2000 years, external forces threatened Jewish survival. Persecution, forced conversions, crusades, expulsions, ghettos, pogroms, anti-Semitism, concentration camps.

In the next 1000 years, the threat to Jewish survival, particularly in America, is internal. Assimilation, apathy, intermarriage, poor Jewish education, low birth rate.
