If you're looking for a unique (and fun) Rosh HaShanah dessert you might want to give these Busy Bee Hive Cupcakes a try. Made with vanilla cupcakes topped with hexagon shaped sugar cookies drizzled with honey, this is one dessert that's almost too pretty to eat.
The full recipe can be found in the book "What's New Cupcake?" by Karen Tack and Alan Richardson, but if you have a favorite cupcake recipe and a hexagon shaped cookie cutter a bit of experimentation in the kitchen could produce similar results. Judging from the photo above, it looks like the cupcakes and cookies were baked separately, with the cookies being topped with yellow decorating sugar. After the cupcakes were frosted the cookies were placed on top and drizzled with honey. According to Hostess with the Mostess the busy bees are made out of jelly beans and almond slices. Might be worth a shot!
